Soon after coalescing around a name for their new initiative, NISCE advocates found a tagline that they hope will help them engage educators, parents and students in conversation and will inspire all of us to look closely at what must be present in our schools and classrooms for effective learning to take place. Drawn from an instructional model that is at the core of Schools for Children’s own diverse schools, the new tagline “Engage – Inspire – Learn” leans heavily on the critical importance of the relationship between student and educator. Only by using their knowledge and understanding of each student are educators able to effectively engage them in learning and inspire them to be successful learners.
The hope of NISCE is to use this platform to bring educators, parents and students into a conversation about what must be provided if we are to develop truly student-centered educational cultures. Our goal is for people to learn from each other through this dialogue and to work to expand ways for our nation’s schools to become much more ‘student centered’ in their approach.
If you are ready to join a movement grounded in the belief that each and every individual deserves the right to be passionate about and successful in their learning, we invite you to add your voice.
